Kemp, Wendi

High School Player

Wendi Kemp had an outstanding basketball career at Cheshire High School. For three consecutive seasons, Kemp was named Cheshire’s most valuable player. She was selected for the 1981 and 1982 All-Housatonic League Team and Tap-Off Club’s All-County Team.

Rajcula, Jody

College Player

Jody Rajcula graduated from Brookfield High School where she earned All-League and All-State honors during her senior year. She continued her education at Southern CT State College, which reigned as AIAW Northeast Champions for three years. Her 1,321 career points were #3 on Southern’s All-Time list. She pulled down 240 rebounds in one season and held the school career rebounding record (763.)

Odoy, Ann Marie

High School Player

Ann Marie Odoy excelled in three sports at Masuk (Monroe) High School. She captained the basketball team for three of her four years. She was named All-State for three years and in 1984, was named Converse Academic and Athletic All-American. During that period Odoy was the third-leading high school girl scorer in Connecticut.

Samaha, Judith

Referee

Judy Samaha began her career as a teacher and athletic administrator in the Wallingford School system in 1971. She was a state women’s basketball official from 1968 until 1983. During those 15 years, she officiated five State championship finals and five Shoreline finals. The New Haven Tap-Off Club selected Samaha as its Outstanding Official in 1978.

Heady, Marie

High School Coach

Marie Heady’s distinguished high school basketball coaching career at Fairfield’s Roger Ludlowe High School spanned 24 seasons. Her teams posted a 239-154 won/loss record from 1964-1988.

Metrelis, Dora

Honorary

Dora Metrelis was a pioneer in the development and promotion of girls’ and women’s sports in Connecticut. Her career as a basketball official and instructor began in 1955, before the passage of Title IX.

Flanagan, Catherine “Kay”
1990
Honorary

(Posthumous Award)
A U.S. Navy Veteran who saw service in World War II and in the Korean War, Kay Flanagan’s dedication to country carried over into her career as a teacher and coach. She taught Physical Education in Farmington and Woodbury, and coached soccer, field hockey, basketball and softball.

Adamski, Cyndie

Referee

In 1975, Cyndie Adamski was named New Haven Official of the Year. She received further recognition in 1984 with the Dedication Award in officiating. A nationally-rated official from 1970 to 1985, Adamski officiated numerous Connecticut High School State Tournaments and Collegiate Championship Tournaments.
