Dolan, Marjorie

Referee

From 1973 to 1988, Marge Dolan officiated high school and college women’s basketball in Connecticut. A member of the College Board of Officials, refereed numerous college conference and regional championships. She also served as an officer of the basketball officials’ association for ten years.

DePaolo, Valerie

High School Player

Valerie DePaolo graduated from Southington High School in 1979. During her outstanding basketball career, she became the all-time leading scorer at Southington. DePaolo led her teams in rebounding, assists, and garnered 1,330 career points and 1,074 career rebounds. DePaolo lettered in and was captain of three-varsity sports teams at Southington.

Rusch, Kathy

High School Coach

Kathy Rusch began her coaching career at Windsor Locks High School with an undefeated 15-0 season. She compiled a record of 32-2 over two years. From 1974-1989, Rusch was the head coach at South Windsor High School, compiling an outstanding record of 234-119 losses.

Tomasiewiez Nogay, Claire Beth

High School Player

By the time Claire Beth Tomasiewiez graduated from Weston High School in 1975, her teams had compiled a four-year win/loss record of 69-1. In 1974 and 1975, Tomasiewicz’s Weston High teams won the C.I.A.C. Class M State Championship. She became the first high school girl in the state to score 1,000 points, and set a single game record of 52 points.

Bochain, Cathy

College Player

Cathy Bochain proved that a scholar athlete could excel in athletics while following a rigorous academic program. Prior to graduating cum laude from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy, Bochain became UConn’s all-time leading scorer with 1,534 points. She also registered the most career steals (240) and most steals in a single game (10.)

Beattie, Celeste

Honorary

As a physical education teacher at Shelton High School, Celeste Beattie organized and participated in “play days,” traveling throughout Connecticut so that her students could play competitively with teams from other schools.

Maskery, Bonnie
1992
Referee

Bonnie Maskery officiated basketball for 26 years (1961-1987). She worked for the Connecticut, New Hampshire, and New York Boards of Officials. She earned a national ranking in that sport.

Shipp, Gail
1992
High School Coach

During her 22-year coaching career at Trumbull High School, Gail Shipp coached her teams to two undefeated seasons, won ten league division titles, F.C.I.A.C League Championships in 1973 and 1974, and the Class L State Championship in 1974.
