Chickie Poisson was a member of the Bridgeport and Southwest Connecticut Officiating Boards for 16 years. From the mid-1960’s through the mid-1970’s, Poisson officiated throughout the state at the high school and college games and in the recreational and industrial leagues. Poisson also contributed to growth of officiating by teaching courses and conducting training programs from 1958-1975. Poisson also was involved in rating officials from 1950-1979. In 1980, the FCIAC awarded her for effort in the development of women’s athletics, especially improvement of Officiating.
Beginning as a college student with the Trenton, NJ Board of Officials in 1949, Poisson’s of-ficiating career spanned four decades. She held officials’ ratings in five sports. She earned national ratings in basketball, volleyball and field hockey and has been a long-time lacrosse official. Poisson earned an international rating in field hockey in 1979 and officiated several national championship games.
Poisson was honored for her service to sports by selection to four Halls of Fame: Trenton State College (1982), United States Field Hockey (1988), University of Bridgeport (1988), and New Agenda/Northeast Women (1992.)
