Kulo Mathieu, Lori

Lori Kulo was a standout basketball player at Ellington High School. She played forward for Coach Ron Hansen from ‘79-’83. During those years, Ellington captured the North Central Con-necticut Conference Title four years in a row and won the State Championship 3 out of those 4 seasons. Kulo was an integral part of those teams.

Kulo was an extremely hard worker and very dedicated to perfecting her game. Her basketball talents were well-rewarded. She earned All-Conference recognition three times, All-State honors in her junior and senior years, and Honorable Mention All- American as a senior.

After high school, Kulo received a full scholarship to the University of Connecticut. From 1983-1987, she tallied 660 points and averaged seven points per game for UCONN. She played for Coach Geno Auriemma during her last seasons at the Storrs campus.
