After an outstanding career at East Haven High School, Tracey Finer made an immediate impact on the Connecticut College team. The fleet-footed guard was honored as Rookie of the Year by the New England Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association. She established Connecticut College Rookie records for most assists in a single game (10); most assists for a season (147); and most steals in a single season (67). Finer was selected to the NCAA Division III All-American Freshman Basketball Team.
By the time she graduated in 1987, Finer’s name appeared at the top of many categories in the Camel’s record book. She set the CC school record for most steals in a single game (10); most steals in a single season (94); most career steals (286); most assists in a single game (14); most assists in a single season (186); and most assists in a career (585.)
In addition to many all-star and all-tournament team selections, Finer was a four-time recipient of Connecticut College’s MVP award and the school’s first-ever four-time All-American. She completed her career as the Connecticut College Top Senior Athlete.
