Degennaro Raftery, Laura

During her senior year at Hamden High School, Laura DeGennaro set three single season records. She scored 574 points, had 96 assists, and averaged 29 points per game. She complet-ed her 3-year career as a point guard averaging 20 points per game while recording 208 assists and 171 steals. Her point total of 1,331 established a new Hamden record.

“Deeg” made the All-District Team in both her junior and senior years and was named to the All-State Team in her senior year. DeGennaro was a member of the National Honor Society at Hamden and The New Haven Tap-Off Club named her their All-County Scholar/Athlete. She also won the Criscuolo Scholar-Athlete Award. Her efforts on the court and in the classroom resulted in a full scholarship to Fordham University.
