Daniel Hand High School in Madison was the setting for Kirsten Anderson’s start in basketball. In 1984, she averaged an amazing 33 points and 16 rebounds per game. Anderson set school records with 49 points and 25 rebounds in a single game and became the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,879 points and rebounder with 1,031.

Anderson was a member of two Shoreline Championship teams and selected to the Class L All-State First Team, All-County Team, All-Shoreline First Team and was voted to three All-American Teams in her senior year.

Anderson received a scholarship to the University of Virginia where she played power forward on a team that played in the NCAA tournament all four years while compiling a 200-21 record. Following graduation, Anderson played professional basketball for the A.S. Villeurbanne Sports Club in France.
